BOQ Services in Egypt: Bills of Quantities and Cost Planning
Accurate Cost Planning Before Construction Begins
Bills of Quantities (BOQ): the short answer
A Bill of Quantities (BOQ) itemizes every material, quantity and unit of work in a project so it can be priced. Laurent prepares BOQs and quantity surveying for projects across Egypt: measured from your drawings by engineers, priced against current market conditions, and structured so contractor bids can be compared line by line.

FAQ
Bills of Quantities (BOQ): frequently asked questions
How much does a BOQ cost in Egypt?
The fee for a BOQ typically depends on the project’s size and complexity, the number of trades involved and how complete the drawings are. A villa BOQ is a smaller scope than a commercial building with full MEP. Send us your drawings and project details and we will confirm the scope and provide a fee proposal.
How long does it take to prepare a BOQ?
Preparation time typically depends on project size, the number of disciplines and the quality of the drawings provided. Complete, coordinated drawings are measured much faster than drawings that need clarification. Once we review your documents, we confirm a delivery date and list any information we need from you.
What is included in a Bill of Quantities?
A Bill of Quantities includes the scope broken into sections, measured quantities for each item, material and workmanship descriptions, unit rates, provisional sums and contingencies. Laurent issues a priced version for your budget and an unpriced version for contractors, so bids can be compared item by item.
What drawings do you need to prepare a BOQ?
We typically need architectural, structural and MEP drawings plus any specifications or finishes schedules. The more complete the drawings, the more accurate the quantities. If some designs are not finished, we can still prepare a BOQ with provisional sums for undefined items and update it when the design is complete.
What is the difference between a BOQ and a cost estimate?
A BOQ is a detailed, itemized list of measured quantities and descriptions, while a cost estimate is the total expected cost. A priced BOQ produces a reliable cost estimate because every item is measured. Early estimates based on area rates are useful for feasibility but carry more uncertainty than a full BOQ.
